Additional Programs

Enrichment

The Team Collaboration/Enrichment Program begins shortly after the beginning of school and meets Wednesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Bilingual Enrichment meets on three Mondays in the school year, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM as well.

During Enrichment time, specialists are brought into each classroom to provide students with a variety of enrichment activities, such as art, dance, cooking, drama or a field trip. As a result, classroom teachers are provided important time to meet with one another for curriculum and other planning.

An integral part of this program's success is the participation of parent volunteers in each and every classroom. In September, please look for the volunteer sign-up sheet that will come home with your child. It will list the dates for your child's enrichment classes. We encourage you to join your child's class during this time. If you have any questions, please call the school office.

The Looping Program

Puentes - Dual-Language Immersion Program

World Languages

The World Languages After School program is a wonderful collaboration between RMMS and Conn College. College students become language teachers to our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The program has been running twice a year since 2009 and languages taught include Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

Nature's Classroom

As part of the RMMS 4th and 5th grade curriculum, each October fourth and fifth grade students attend Nature's Classroom. This hands-on, overnight science camp is located in Ivoryton, Connecticut. Students experience team-building, environmental conservation and science activities in a natural setting while developing social skills and learning to get along with others. Nature's Classroom leases the camp site from Incarnation Center and operates the program throughout the year. RMMS 4/5 teachers and staff members are present on site at all times during the week. There is also an RN in camp available 24/7 to administer medications and handle any medical issues. Parents may not visit during the week but are able to sign up in advance to chaperone at night and must go through chaperone training.

This is an unforgettable experience for our students that helps them grow both as students and individuals.
